The Heart of the Trump Administration
Question: Since when does America place “babies” on a concrete floor to sleep after it has ripped them from the arms of their parents?
Answer: Since some Americans chose to put Trump in the White House and weak Republicans in Congress.
Reading the above, some will say this article attacks the Trump Administration. We believe it restates what is happening under the Trump Administration and reveals the country’s utter dissatisfaction with man’s inhumanity to man.
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”
These words, written by Emma Lazarus, in the late 19th century should grip the hearts of American citizens as compassionately in the 21st century as they did then but, do they?
Freedom is a state of thought, a consciousness filled with love, kindness and respect for humanity, and that state of thought must lead to action—action that fights against what we know is wrong! Why are so many Americans hardened to this fact? They breathe-in fear and breathe-out hate. Both having a foundation of selfishness, control, and a vision that says some people have less rights than others. Ironically, some of these same people point a finger at the Taliban, African nations and Isis for the human atrocities they commit, and rightfully so, but are we not doing the same thing?
What kind or humane-thinking person would rip a baby out of the arms of its mother or father, place it with strangers, provide no way of connecting parent and child in the future, build cages to imprison people? That is what the news media reveals the Trump Administration did and is doing! Lies, deceit and blame do not alter this fact, and anyone who feels this is justified, needs to connect to divine wisdom. Spirituality is not a religion, it is divine thinking and living, doing unto others (even immigrants) what you would like done to you. How many of you would like your child, grandchild or friend’s child ripped from its parent’s arms and “disposed of?” Sounds cruel, doesn’t it? That’s because it is cruel. Are we Nazi Germany, and do we relive the same kind of mistreatment inflicted on Native Americans, slaves and Asian Americans? The past is not the past, if we are re-living it in the present. No one is above the law … God’s law . . . and that law…always wins.
Most of us don’t have billions of dollars to influence politicians, denounce Russian ideology or use TV channels to reach out to Americans but, we can rebuke unrighteousness and reach out with love, comfort and truth. The truth is always the truth, it does not change but, what we see on a daily basis from the current administration, is a story or narrative that constantly changes. We see and hear our President saying one thing one minute, hour or day and then changing it to something else totally different. Where is the truth? Where is trustworthiness?
The one thing that makes me proud to be an American is, to see citizens across this country standing up to the values we hold dear, embracing love and respect for mankind and demonstrating a high regard for human decency. We are proving who we are! A corrupt government does not make us a corrupt populace!
Man’s inhumanity to man is not determined by religion, country or region, it is defined by how we treat our fellowman. As a young person reading the words of Emma Lazarus, the impact of their meaning touched my heart … today, those striving to “breathe free” and see America as the air that allows them to do so, touch my soul—a soul that cries out for America to have a heart and a soul.
This picture hints at Nazi concentration camps and America’s prisons. Who are we? How did we get here? The writer has written many articles in the last ten years explaining how we arrived at the pictures above, and words like hate, bigotry, racism, white supremacy were at the forefront.
As a musician, it is easy to take lessons from the musical, The Wizard of Oz, and lean on a brain, a heart and courage to lead us back to a country of humane treatment toward our fellowman. Unless more of us have the courage to speak out, vote out and refuse to believe the lies that flow from the Trump Administration, we will wake up one day and see a Nazi America. Francis Scott Key said:
O thus be it ever when free-men shall stand, Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation! Blest with vict’ry and peace, May the heav’n-rescued land Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation.
“O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.”
Let’s continue to show our bravery and integrity for the words The Star Spangled Banner advocates …
