HARLEM LAFAYETTE APPEARS ON TALK TO THE AUTHOR

HARLEM LAFAYETTE: ACTOR – VOCALIST – TEACHER

Harlem Lafayette, a native of Detroit, is one of Detroit Public Schools’ success stories. His interest in music began in elementary school and guided him through high school, college, grad school, and placed him in the theater capitol of America…Broadway…New York. Harlem has spent twenty-one years doing what he loves.

Group Action

As an actor, Harlem recognizes the importance of group awareness, sensitivity and interaction. It is a collaborative effort. While each actor relies on his individual talent and competency to play his character, being able to “mesh” with the group allows it to function as a whole. “No man is an island.”

LAFAYETTE THE TEACHER

Teaching is a special kind of “animal.” It not only requires the person to develop knowledge and a skill-set, he must also develop the capacity to transfer that knowledge and skill to someone else . . . sometimes with words, sometimes demonstration, but more importantly, with patience, adaptability, imagination and communication.
