The journey of Judge Brown Jackson began as a high school teen who learned competitive speech, debate and a high regard for human dignity and law. Her father, an accomplished attorney expressed that law to her, and her mother taught it. Both set her up for a long, but steady growth period. When she was told by a white teacher that she could not play a certain role because it was for a white family, she grew. Every step taken prepared her for today. Her high school was 73% white and 10% black.
BIDEN’S SUPREME COURT PICK: HER ROAD TO HARVARD UNIVERSITY
Miami Palmetto High School laid the groundwork for entrance into Harvard University Law School. Armed with an award as National Champion in Oratory, Young Ketanji was ready for stiff competition scholastically and confidently. It was there where she met and later married Patrick Graves Brown.
A PATHWAY FOR JUSTICE
Justice is not only slow, it’s also hard. Ketanji Brown Jackson clerked for three (3) federal judges, worked as a public defender in Washington, D.C. and was nominated and confirmed as District Court Judge by President Barack Obama.

Under President Biden, Judge Brown Jackson became U.S. Appeals Court Judge. Now . . . President Biden has nominated her for Supreme Court Justice. If confirmed, she will be the first African American woman to serve as Justice. How about that for history!

When African American men were mercilessly taken from homes, women had to shoulder the burden of “carrying on.” This has developed a strong, mental core that allows us to fight back in dire situations.
